Marcellus UMC is part of a very large denomination called the United Methodist Church. For more on our scripturally-centered, Spirit-led history, please visit: www.umc.org.
As part of the United Methodist Church, we believe in God’s love revealed through Jesus Christ and made known through the Holy Spirit. We believe that every person is a beloved child of God and that God's grace is available to all.
Our faith is rooted in Scripture and shaped by Christian tradition, human intellect and reason, and personal experience. We seek to follow Jesus by growing in faith, becoming more like him with the power of the Holy Spirit.
Following the teachings of John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist movement, we believe that faith is not just something we believe—it is something we live. We are called to love God with our whole hearts and to love our neighbors as ourselves.
United Methodists have long embraced the idea that Christians may disagree on some things while remaining united in Christ. As Wesley famously taught: "In essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; and in all things, love."
Marcellus United Methodist Church is part of the worldwide United Methodist Church and the Upper New York Conference. Through this connection, we partner with churches and ministries locally, nationally, and around the world to share God's love and serve others.
