What We Believe
MUMC is part of the worldwide connection of The United Methodist Church — a global community of Christians committed to following Jesus Christ through worship, compassion, justice, and service.

Our roots trace back to the Methodist movement begun by John Wesley in 18th-century England. Wesley believed that faith is more than simply believing the right things — it is a way of life shaped by God’s grace, personal transformation, acts of mercy, and love for our neighbors. Methodists have long emphasized both a personal relationship with God and a commitment to caring for the world around us.

As United Methodists, we believe:

  • God’s grace is for everyone.
  • Jesus Christ calls us into lives of love, justice, mercy, and discipleship.
  • Scripture, tradition, reason, and experience all help guide our faith.
  • The Church is called to serve others and reflect God’s kingdom in the world.

At MUMC, we seek to live out these beliefs with open hearts, thoughtful faith, meaningful worship, and active service in our community.
